The Pad Thai Diaries will serve as our connection to all our friends and family in the States. We promise to update everyone with lots of stories and even more pictures. Feel free to share our blog and please do not be shy in posting a comment, asking questions, and updating us on the latest current events and scores (GO BEAVS, TIMBERS, and WOLVERINES!!!!). We want this to be as interactive as possible. We hope our trip serves as inspiration to those who have always wanted to explore the world...
For all those who don't know who I am, my name is Jason and my co-pilot/ girlfriend on this journey is Michelle. My world travel experience includes a visit to Tijuana, Mexico, when I was 10 where I spent my tooth fairy money on a fake pair of sunglasses. And a road trip to Whistler, Canada for a college binge drinking weekend, "FRAT, FRAT!" Michelle, on the other hand, has visited several countries including England, Japan, Dubai, New Zealand, Germany, France... etc. etc. She will be the stronger among the two of us as we brave this new territory!
Special Thanks go out to Michelle's parents, Derek and Maureen! 1) They allowed me to crash at their house to save some extra money for our trip. "And for all of you wondering?!?... Yes, we slept in separate beds. Get your mind out of the gutter" hahaha 2) They are the reason why we even have this opportunity to travel. They are Professional Hot Air Balloonists and we will be meeting up with them during various parts of our trip to assist in Ballooning Events and Competitions in Thailand and Malaysia.
SO Here is the rough plan for the trip. We drive to Arizona on October 20th where we will spend a couple weeks with my family. My mother has promised to fatten me up with home cooked meals! Our flight leaves from Phoenix to LAX on November 7th, then we fly from LAX to Hong Kong, and take the last leg of our departing flights from Hong Kong to Thailand and arrive on November 8th. We will spend around 5 months in the surrounding Asian countries and end the trip with a three week stay in England. Michelle's grandma, aunts, and uncles are English and live in England and in the countryside. Our trip will sadly end around the last week of April. We will return to the States and arrive in Arizona without a clue on what to do next. Our pockets will be very empty but our minds + hearts will be very FULL and satiated! :)
"So Ready or Not?!... Here we come Thailand!!!"
